Sample of my Content Writing

As I study and upgrade my skills in preparation for my freelancing adventure, I decided to do a sample content writing. This was from the job posting where one client is looking for a content writer in relation to health and offers a full time job if the client will be satisfied with the application and interview. I would¬†like to apply but … and there is always a but… I will do it some other time.

Well, here goes my sample content writing…

ANXIETY

I never imagined that a close friend of mine will have that feeling of despair due to a situation. She lost her father at a young age and long before that, she was having the feeling of nervousness and difficulty of focusing on her studies.

There was even the time that she dreaded riding the bus going to her school without any reason. There was even a sudden attack of fear when there is no threat. A non-stop crying any time of the day.

She was not diagnosed but based on the random stories that I am hearing about her, I feel that she has Anxiety disorder. What is Anxiety Disorder? Who usually experience this disorder?

Let me discuss what is anxiety disorder. This is a mental illness which can affect anybody. May it be men or women. This disorder happens when you feel bothered and it interferes with your daily activities. In the case of the subject person. She cries non-stop and cannot overcome the feeling of overwhelming fear and nervousness. There are many types of this mental disorder. It includes GAD (General anxiety disorder), Panic Disorder, Social Phobia, Specific Phobia, OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder), and PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder.

General Anxiety Disorder is a disorder which affects the person on a daily basis. It may be of any reason such as personal issues, finances, or relationship in the family or work. Usually, there is no reason to worry but the person having this disorder cannot remove the feeling of worry and usually leads to depression. Most common for those who have this disorder have a family history with the same symptoms.

Social Phobia is when a person feels self-conscious and anxious on their daily activities. One example of this is when a person knows that he will be in a room full of people and he needs to socialize, he feels a sudden panic attack and will feel that he needs to get out of that situation.

Specific Phobia is a disorder which makes the person feel unsafe and worries himself to death without any reason at all. This disorder will include phobias such as fear of injection, heights, spiders, a small and closed room, and other specific issues. It brings a sudden attack of panic when faced in that situation.

OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) This is a disorder which shows the repetitive patterns that a person does to feel safe and in control. Example of this is when a person opens the door, he has to turn the key 3x and turn the knob 3x and upon closing the door repeats the action of turning the knob 3x and putting in and out the keychain.

PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) This is a disorder which only shows after a traumatic experience. Example of this is when a person was harmed due to a holdup and after the incident, the person does not want to be hugged nor want to be near any male person. When accidentally, someone hugs that person, a feeling of anxiety or even a total breakdown would be experienced by the person and might not stop crying.

These types of anxiety disorders can be treated with either counseling or a prescription of medicine or a combination of both. It may also include the changes in lifestyle and food regime. Strategies of coping up and therapy of how to relax will be part of the activities of the person suffering from this disorder.

Weekend Research

To cap off the weekend, I did online researching and joined groups including watching/listening to webinars to add more to learning and upgrading my skills.

Most importantly, to realize the full potential of my skill set and the confidence that goes along with it that sooner or later, I will be updated to the current trends of the Social Media Marketing and Management.

I just realized that whatever I have learned in my academic years in College, is just a background to what I am in for in the world of Freelancing. This is way too different in the corporate world. Resume is just basic compared to making profiles in applying for work. If there is no value and the confidence that goes with it, no client will notice you. Profiles being made in different platforms to find freelancing work is difficult. It must include your skills, unique experiences that can be shared as examples and most important is what can the client get in hiring you. What can you contribute that will make the client value you as their employee.

Freelancing is a combination of hard work and studying new sets of skills and learning applicable to the current job offered in the market.

Freelance Application

Days have been full with children in the house, but it did not deter me to be online and try my luck of looking for an online job. It is a good day actually, having 3 responses from the application I did. All for interview and examinations. This is no different from the physical application, however, it is more convenient for me since there is no need to physically prepare (get dress), and prepare to battle the heat and traffic to go to the place for interview. In the convenience of my airconed room and closed door, I can do other things as well while responding to those applications.

I have already responded to one and declined the offer of interview as I feel that the workload is too much. I actually felt overwhelmed just by reading the job requirements. The other two applications, I need to pass their exams before getting interviewed.

The good thing about these applications, interviews are done usually via skype. The feeling is the same where one feels nervous and feels a little bit rattled as to what questions will be asked. The client doing an interview may not be local, but of a different nationality.

If nothing comes out of it from these applications, the value of patience is a must. As the saying goes, “try and try until you succeed”.

Freelancing of a Home-based Mom

My 3 and 6 years old children makes me busy for the entire day and soon, I will have a few hours break once my youngest child starts school.

Freelancing has been very visible in my social media notifications and I am getting more aware of it as I research about what kind of jobs can a 40+ Mom with limited window hours before household and family time takes over.

I am very active in reading posts of different online Freelancing groups and Home-based/work at home jobs. This is making me excited as I get to start a new career without applying for work in a corporate industry, without physically preparing to go out and start job hunting and submitting myself for an  interview, and without getting stressed with the time and travel.

My first few blogs will be all about my adventure in looking for online jobs and freelancing. This may include setbacks and disappointments and with luck, success in landing my first project. It will be a long way, nevertheless, it will be challenging to discover the online world with the fast changing, developing and information technology jobs that I need to grasp and learn to update my skills.

Today is the start to learn this website skill, and in the next days, my will to learn more on content management, search engine optimization, social media management and other highly technical words which I still need to research on.

I hope this will help other readers (who happens to drop by and read) who are newbies and very much interested to join me in this journey of work at home jobs or simply called Freelancing.
